Promoting Maternal and Child Health through Micronutrients
It was reported by World Health Organisation that micronutrients are only needed in very small quantities but are essential for normal physiological function, growth and development. Deficiencies of micronutrients such as vitamin A, iron, iodine and folate are particularly common among during pregnancy, due to increased nutrient requirements of the mother and developing fetus. These deficiencies can negatively impact the health of the mother, her pregnancy, as well as the health of the newborn baby. This project helps at-risk populations in need, specifically pregnant women, new mothers and children under five- gain access to life saving and life changing vitamins and minerals by providing them with vitamin A, Albendazole and multivitamins in Ibadan metropolis. This project is a collaborative efforts with Oak Rural Health Organization.
