Strengthening Access to HIV Prevention and Treatment Services for LGBTI (ACCESS) Project
On a daily basis, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex people are exposed to death threats, extortion, harassment, physical and verbal violence and discrimination because of our gender identity or sexual orientation. This situation makes them vulnerable to HIV than every other population. ACCESS project is therefore put together for members of LGBTI to reduce the transmission of HIV and also provide care and support services for those living with HIV/AIDS in Oyo, Osun and Kwara States, Nigeria.
This intervention is providing lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex population with training on sexual and reproductive health and HIV prevention, and raising awareness among general population on human rights and zero discrimination. This project also provides also supports LGBTI prisoners living with HIV to adhere to their treatment and monitors their access in order to ensure their psychosocial and emotional well-being.
